Recession reality: Most Florida counties still haven’t recovered all their lost jobs

31 counties in Florida have more jobs now than before the Great Recession. That leaves 36 counties that still have not returned to pre-recession employment levels, a sign of an uneven and incomplete recovery in an era when Gov. Florida Bar report aims at eliminating gender bias in legal profession

The Florida Bar will release a report today that outlines widespread recommendations on how to eliminate gender bias throughout law firms in the state. The report is in response to a survey by the Young Lawyers Division of the Bar that showed 43 percent of women who responded had experienced gender bias. [Source: Tampa Bay Times]

Florida No. 4 for private equity investment in 2016

Florida ranked fourth in the United States last year for private equity investment, a new report said. According to the American Investment Council, private equity firms made $41.8 billion in capital investments in Florida last year, supporting 33,733 jobs. Florida layoffs decline by 12 percent in May

Florida employers trimmed 846 jobs in May, a 12 percent drop from 960 in the same month a year ago, according to outsourcing firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas’s monthly report released Thursday. [Source: South Florida Sun-Sentinel]
